MidtownAle.com for Great Beer in NYC

We've sought out the best of midtown for craft beer lovers, so you don't have to waste your time with the same old crap on tap. All of the establishments listed on the Midtown Ale Trail offer noteworthy craft beer selections - If it's on the list, it's worth the trip.

Our ratings are on a 10-scale:

VIBE: Look, feel, comfort, cleanliness, warmth. We can dig divey, but it's got to feel right.
SERVICE: Were the waiters and bartenders friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable?
BEER: Not everyone's got room for 50 taps, quality is what really matters: what's in stock?

Impressions

Chelsea Brewing is a technically a little bit outside of midtown's reach, but is likely to draw the after-work crowd all the same. More importantly, the surrounding area is otherwise devoid of great beer, so that makes this little gem all the more important. Located on Pier 59, Chelsea Brewing boasts an awesome dockside view of the Hudson and features six of their own beers. Most of the six are regulars (most notably the Checker Cab Blonde and the Sunset Red), and the others rotate. Ample bar grub and friendly bartenders make this place a no brainer if wandering West of midtown with parched palette.

Vibe: 5 / 10

Service: 7 / 10

Beer: 5 / 10 (Brewpub, serves only their own beer)

Other Thoughts: Craft Beer lovers are likely pacified by the rotating or seasonal brews. Chelsea beers are not found outside of the city, though you will occasionally see them at even some of the more elite beer bars around town. Hungry? Try the nachos,  but bring a friend to tackle the generous portions.
