MidtownAle.com for Great Beer in NYC

We've sought out the best of midtown for craft beer lovers, so you don't have to waste your time with the same old crap on tap. All of the establishments listed on the Midtown Ale Trail offer noteworthy craft beer selections - If it's on the list, it's worth the trip.

Our ratings are on a 10-scale:

VIBE: Look, feel, comfort, cleanliness, warmth. We can dig divey, but it's got to feel right.
SERVICE: Were the waiters and bartenders friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable?
BEER: Not everyone's got room for 50 taps, quality is what really matters: what's in stock?

Impressions

At one point in time Molyvos may have had a decent beer selection, at least that's what was indicated by a website offering beer menu listing services. While not all the choices were Macros, the selection of ales tends to be slim and somewhat underwhelming. Pale foreign lagers make up the majority of the list with a couple locals thrown in for fun; overall not incredibly well thought out. The looks of the restaurant are nice, but portray the candid story of exactly what Molyvos is: expensive. At least on this one particular visit service was terrible- the waiter ignored us, forgot our drinks, and screwed up our food order.

Beer: 1 / 10

Vibe: 4 / 10

Service: 1 / 10

Other Thoughts: Molyvos stays on the list by mere technicality: the beer choices here are not completely typical of the hundreds of surrounding establishments. While others have hopefully had better luck with service, the low marks should indicate this isn't where you should look for a beer-knowledgeable server.
