MidtownAle.com for Great Beer in NYC

We've sought out the best of midtown for craft beer lovers, so you don't have to waste your time with the same old crap on tap. All of the establishments listed on the Midtown Ale Trail offer noteworthy craft beer selections - If it's on the list, it's worth the trip.

Our ratings are on a 10-scale:

VIBE: Look, feel, comfort, cleanliness, warmth. We can dig divey, but it's got to feel right.
SERVICE: Were the waiters and bartenders friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable?
BEER: Not everyone's got room for 50 taps, quality is what really matters: what's in stock?

Impressions

Rattle 'N' Hum feels a lot like your favorite pair of jeans: worn and comfortable, but not anywhere near the best looking thing in your wardrobe. The distressed wood glows softly around the dimly lit bar, giving way a large chalkboard with the on-tap selections. Those same beer selections are also listed out on placemats brought out to all the tables. Alongside the draft selections, Rattle 'N' Hum lists the Rate Beer rankings for each of the brews, a feature some find helpful when the list hosts some unfamiliar brews. The carefully chosen drafts are backed by an impressive bottle selection and thorough food menu.

Vibe: 8 / 10

Service: 8 / 10

Beer Selection: 9 / 10

Other Thoughts: Rattle N Hum feels somewhat divey, but most beer geeks will argue that the draft selections are some of the best in midtown. While the bar doesn't seem to play host to as many beers as Ginger Man, this is a case where quality rings true over quantity.
