Impressions
Just a hop, skip, and a jump from Penn Station, there's great beer and Irish food to be found at Stout. The friendly, outgoing bartender was happy to talk beer, sweetening the conversation with her slight brogue. The scene is pretty cool - incredibly high converted-warehouse ceilings in black set a chic industrial feel. A solid beer selection may not necessarily outshine some of the other midtown choices, but there are more than just a few items that will have the beer geeks glowing. If caught up in the area with a little spare time on hand, Stout is a no-brainer.
Vibe: 8 / 10
Service: 8 / 10
Beer Selection: 7 / 10
Other Thoughts: Another bar from the owners of St. Andrews, Stout more than makes up for the lackluster beer selection at their Scotch-oriented establishment. With typical pub fare on hand as well, Stout gets some merit points for making the departure to a couple more traditional Irish items like Bangers and Mash and the Irish Breakfast.
