#1 ColdBreak Jockey Box With Faucet (Our Favorite)

Coldbreak Jockey Box Product Editors ChoiceColdbreak Brewing Equipment specialized in modern brewing equipment that’s superior than other brands out on the market – their jockey box is no exception.

They work with many of the top breweries in the country so they are able to produce products that hit the right buttons in terms of what we need as brew enthusiasts.

Their 30 quart cooler is exactly what you need if you need to keep your beer fresh and cold. It comes with 50’ stainless steel coils, which is my suggested minimum length when going with a coil type jockey box.

The jockey box is very sturdy and solid and all fittings (coils and faucet shanks) are made of stainless steel. I know that this bad boy is built to last.

Though this is a single faucet unit, they have a wide arrange of sizes and shapes. So if you were hoping for something with more taps, or just bigger in size (and if price isn’t an issue), you may like their 2 tap jockey box option.

In my opinion, the best part about this product was the fact that it came completely pre-assembled and with instructions on how to get the best pour possible. It’s basically ready to rock as soon as it arrives.

#3 NY Brew Supply Mini Stainless Steel Jockey Box

NY Brew Supply Mini Stainless Steel Jockey Box

If you’ve been to the Home Brew Stuff website, you’ll see that they sell a huge variety of homebrew products and accessories, including a good variety of jockey boxes.

This includes cooler boxes ranging from a single tap system all the way up to a large 4-tap system for large parties or events.

The Mini Jockey Box is 14qt cooler that comes with a high quality 50’ stainless steel coil that is just long enough to give your beer a good chill.

You’ll also want to wait a minute or two in between pours to ensure you get a cold one. I would also recommend putting your keg in a bucket full of ice since the coil is on the shorter side.

It’s very common for these smaller compact coolers to have shorter coils. This jockey box also comes with a stainless steel faucet and has a nice cover to go along with it.

This is an excellent option if affordability and portability is key!

The 2 Types Jockey Boxes?

There are two different types of jockey boxes, coil, and cold plate. If you’re able to keep your keg below 55°F, a cold plate jockey box is your best bet! If your keg will most likely be room temperature, I would go with the coil type.

#1 Coil Jockey Box

When choosing the coil type, you’ll have to choose the actual length of the coils, as well as how many taps you’d like on your jockey box. The shorter coils, which are around 50’-70’ are designed for low to moderate use and will need a little bit of time in between every couple of drinks to rejuvenate.

If you’re going to be constantly filling up cups and don’t have time to wait around for rejuvenation, you’ll want a longer coil that is at least 120’. When using the coil type, you’ll want a good mixture of ice and water.

#2 Cold Plate Jockey Box

The cold plate jockey box is the most efficient option, but it does require your keg to be 55°F or cooler to reach the desired temperature. This is because the coils that are located inside of the cold plate are much shorter than the coil type jockey box which means less contact with a cold surface.

Unlike the coil cooler, which requires the use of ice mixed with water, the cold plate cooler runs off just ice. This means you’ll need to keep the drain open on your beer cooler so the water can drain as the ice melts.

In addition to the actual jockey box kit, you’ll need:

  • CO2 Tank
  • Beer line
  • Air line
  • Regulator
  • Bags of ice
  • Keg of Beer! Duh 🙂

The Best Jockey Box: Our #1 Recommendation

If you’re looking for a serious jockey box kit that will deliver ice cold beer at a busy event, I’d recommend picking up the Coldbreak Jockey Box Coil Cooler. The 50’ coil will keep the beer flowing cold without a hiccup.

It’s solid and sturdy, and comes completely pre-assembled out of the box so it’s ready to be used straight away. This is my go-to jockey box I bring any time I have an event coming up.

Give this jockey box a go. You won’t be disappointed.
